World Series Final Game Draws 51M Viewers Across the US, Canadian and Japan Markets.

The thrilling extra-inning clash that saw the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a total 51M spectators across the United States, Canada, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball stated this is the most-watched World Series finale since the 1991 edition contest featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s epic contest drew over 27 million viewers on Fox networks, its Spanish-language channel and their digital services. Per Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It additionally is the most-watched Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This represents a sixteen percent improvement compared to the previous Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 ranked 4th, Game 4 ranked seventh, the fifth game came in eighth, and the third game finished in thirteenth position.

Global Audience Figures

In Canada, the game averaged over 11 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the most-watched English-language program in Canada since the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding game began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it drew 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – recorded 13.1 million spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-match World Series recorded 15.71M viewers on Fox, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This represents the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership increases for two consecutive years.

Counting the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the total American viewership reached over 16 million. The overall Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 averaged 8.09M watchers, an eight percent increase over last year and Fox’s strongest postseason performance since the 2017 season.

MLB stated that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 nations and regions by 44 media partners in 16 various languages.
